HarvestPlus Solutions partnered with Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI) at the JUMBARA V PMR-PMI Sumatera Utara 2025, held from June 17–22 at the Langkat Scout Campground in North Sumatra Province, Indonesia. The event brought together over 1,500 participants—including members of Palang Merah Remaja (PMR), educators, and volunteers—from across North Sumatra and Aceh Provinces. The program focused on equipping the youth with information as a way to prepare and equip them to respond to humanitarian and health challenges, including those related to nutrition and climate change.

As part of the Educational Talkshow on Adolescent Nutrition, HarvestPlus Solutions contributed to a session aimed at strengthening youth knowledge around healthy eating using the B2SA framework—Beragam, Bergizi, Seimbang, dan Aman (diverse, nutritious, balanced, and safe). The session aimed to educate and inspire lasting behavioral change by encouraging adolescents to adopt healthier dietary and lifestyle habits that support both physical and mental development.

This initiative aligns with HarvestPlus Solutions’ broader mission to instill healthy habits during adolescence, a pivotal stage of growth and development. Participants gained practical knowledge on selecting and preparing nutritious meals, understanding the consequences of poor nutrition, and recognizing how food choices impact energy levels, academic performance, and overall well-being.

In addition to nutrition education, the session emphasized the importance of hygiene and sanitation practices, covering topics such as handwashing, personal hygiene, and safe food handling. These topics aimed to empower PMR members to become ambassadors of good health practices in their schools, homes, and wider communities.

By engaging young people through platforms like JUMBARA, HarvestPlus Solutions and its partners are investing in a healthier, more informed future. These efforts support national objectives around nutrition improvement and youth empowerment and represent a significant step toward sustainable, community-based health promotion.
