Professor Abdullahi Mustapha, Director-General of NABDA, emphasized that biofortification
in plant breeding can help combat malnutrition while boosting smallholder farmers’ incomes.
At a hybrid conference in Markudi, he highlighted the benefits of integrating biofortified
crops like maize, yams, and legumes into existing farming systems, which can improve diets
and address deficiencies in vitamin A, zinc, and iron.
